Is Alcohol More Dangerous Than Heroin, Cocaine, Meth or Marijuana?

SmokingWhat is the most dangerous, most addictive, least healthful controlled substance you can take?

I always say…. Stop telling me what is bad for me and tell me on a list of one to one thousand tell me which is the worst and I will at least stay away from the top 3 or 5 depending…. I don’t have the time or want to focus on what the 400th worst thing is for me…. Everything over moderation will kill you including water and air.

cannabis, marijuana leafI have seen two other studies this week that show that regular cannabis is not dangerous to drivers and although it shows in studies that it can impair certain functions you need to drive, it does not, in the studies conducted show the same issues with real driving tests!!??

The belief is that when you are drunk and driving you overestimate your ability to do well and thus you do stupid stuff and crash, but cannabis users usually overestimate how impaired they are and are extremely careful and use other techniques to make sure they are not doing stupid things and crashing so the studies continue to show no increase in accidents with smokers of cannabis while driving.

Alcohol, cannabisAdd alcohol to the mix and the cannabis smoker is just as susceptible to an accident as any other drunk.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2722956/

Here is another study list of most harmful to least harmful

http://www.webmd.com/mental-health/addiction/news/20101101/alcohol-more-harmful-than-crack-or-heroin

This study shows that you are not likely to become addicted to most drugs you try unless you try them intravenously or your trying cigarettes.

http://www.bakadesuyo.com/2012/08/whats-the-most-addictive-drug/

Remember none of these figures show black and white answers. Obviously more people drink alcohol that do heroin so you will have more (25% of vehicle deaths are attributed to alcohol consumption) alcohol related deaths. Drinking hard liqueur vs beer or wine might have different issues. Alcohol for example shows some positive health effects if taken in moderation. So you have to do research on the research to make sure you know if you are in harms way or not.

incarcceration rates in US and aboadWe have believed the big lies we have been told forever. It is time to start questioning everything, not as a cynic, but as a concerned citizen that is through believing the media which continues to subvert the truth allowing a failing war on drugs to fill our prisons to capacities that are not seen in any other part of the world, except Seychelles. Yes the U.S. is the number 2 winner in how many people per capita, we incarcerate.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_incarceration_rate

Drug addiction is no joke and not good for the addicted or our society. This story is just to point out the facts at hand so we can work out the issues with the best possible information at hand, not with outdated anecdotal information based on fear and corporate greed.

So many schools of thought on this one. It seems that it is just not an academic type of question where the true answer can be found.

Do we just turn into dust and are no longer? Do we come back as someone or something else? Do we stay aware? Do we go someplace where we can see and help guide others back on Earth? Do we get rewarded or Continue reading

The Economic Argument Is Over — Paul Krugman Has Won

Reblogged from Business Insider: To Read more: http://www.businessinsider.com/paul-krugman-is-right-2013-4#ixzz2RPvVxsHu

For the past five years, a fierce war of words and policies has been fought in America and other economically challenged countries around the world.

On one side were economists and politicians who wanted to increase government spending to offset weakness in the private sector. This “stimulus” spending, economists like Paul Krugman argued, would help reduce unemployment and Continue reading

It is Snowing at On Purpose Magazine

http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mdhx7ivcE91rl4tbmo1_1280.jpg

In the spirit of the holidays, it will be Snowing at the  On Purpose Magazine website till January 4th.

Come and check it out and all the wonderful stories and our first ever Author / Book contest / competition.

I grew up around snow…. My father was in the Air Force and it seems that we were stationed in many cold weather places where I got to see snow as a young kid, such as Plattsburgh, NY and Carterton, in West Oxfordshire in the U.K. and eventually my mother and my brother and sister settled in Lake Tahoe, CA and NV.

Snow was what winter and the holidays were about and when I first spend a Christmas away from home it was soooo depressing. I was stationed, while in the U.S. Navy, in San Diego, CA and though it was a wonderfully sunny Christmas Day, it lacked everything I thought I knew about Christmas.’

I now live in Los Angeles and have had rainy Christmases and wonderfully sunny Christmases, but never a snowy one. Yes we have had snow in Los Angeles a couple of times, but never on Christmas.

The point is that I love snow for the holidays and do miss it, but I have learned not to be depressed due to incredibly great weather.

I also have to admit that if reminded, going to school, work or important events can really suck in the snow and sliding off the road is not fun, or putting on chains when your hands are frozen, or slipping and falling or shoveling the walk or going out to carry in firewood and….. well you get the picture.

So at On Purpose Magazine we will make it snow 24/7 for your enjoyment, without any of the hassles. Make sure you stay on the page a second as it starts out very subtle and then it picks up the longer you stay.

Come take a peek and while your their listen or watch one of our great videos or podcasts. We try and put in tons of helpful content that you can use now and share throughout the year.

Happy Holidays to you and yours… – JW

10 Rules To A Higher Life

I saw this posted on a chiropractors wall and really liked it.

Ten Rules to a Higher LifeI have made this graphic to share on Facebook and G+ etc.

I looked it up further and found this great post on the derivation and deeper meaning.

Let me know what you think or feel free to share it with others. – JW

Ten Rules to a Higher Life – Taken from Pavlina Post

These rules were created

, an incredible man and teacher who founded the Concept-Therapy course of instruction.

  1. Find No Fault
  2. Look for the good, and Go About Doing Good
  3. Never Criticize Nor Condemn
  4. Enslave No One
  5. Speak Not of Yourself
  6. Be Truthful
  7. Have Compassion
  8. Eliminate the Negative
  9. Meditate
  10. Work

Here is what Dr. Fleet had to say regarding his ten rules. “When shall now give you Ten Laws, Ten Rules, that you may try out in your own way. As you begin to bring your expression in harmony with these Rules, you will be inclined towards the Good of Life which, magnified to Infinity, is what we call the Being named God. In other words, you are striving to gain the God that is within you”.

1. Find No Fault

This is pretty straight-forward, “Find No Fault”. Are you finding fault with the way God is running the world? Are you finding fault with the people, places, and things in your life? If you said “yes” to either of those questions, then you are violating this rule.

Dr. Fleet would recommend an exercise in which a person would try to find no fault with anything for two weeks! Most people can’t even do it for a day! Try it for yourself. Here is the exercise taken from the book Cosmic Principles:

“Each morning when you arise, say to yourself: “Today I will find no fault with any person, place, or thing. If God has control of the whole universe, then I will adapt myself to His way of running it. No matter who comes around, or what happens, I will not find fault. I will try to obey this one law”.

As you find no fault, you will fault that peace will come unto you. You will be less enslaved and apt to react to the negative in life and will be more in tune to the good.

Happy Thanksgiving From On Purpose Magazine

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

To speak gratitude is courteous and pleasant, to enact gratitude is generous and noble, but to live gratitude is to touch Heaven. ~ Johannes A. Gaertner

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we HAVE into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” – Melanie Beattie

WordPress.com Members Claim Your Blog on Alexa

Claim a WordPress.com Blog on Alexa

There are so many things to think about out there in the Webisphere nowadays. Some are important and many many more… Not so much.

Obviously Google, Bing and Yahoo are pretty important, but have you heard of your site Alexa score?

If not, you should get acquainted with this service. The Alexa rating can say a lot about a site. It rates your site against a huge number of sites around the world and nationally and the numbers are based on mostly activity. Having a great site that ranks well with Google does not have to necessarily have the best traffic, but with Alexa, traffic is key to your getting the best rating.

Most sites start out in the tens of millions and you know when you are starting to do well when you get to around one million. Alexa does not show full stats for your site till you are ranked in the top 100,000 internationally. I want my sites to be under 500,000. You can gauge your site or your competitions sites etc…

Here is an explanation of Google Page Rank vs. Alexa logolitic.com/how-to-pagerank-alexa-rank/

Go to Alexa now and type in a few well known or favorite sites of yours to check out the numbers.

Once you understand this service you will probably figure out why it may be important to have your site properly registered at Alexa, though in the past this has been an issue for sites at WordPress.com.

I have been registered for a little while now and the person that explained to me how to do this just wrote a blog post on it with pretty simple instructions on how to do it. – JW

Heres the Post…..

by on 2012/03/13

Alexa.com is one of the big players in the search engine business that has been around since 1996. Although it isn’t as large as Google.com or Bing.com, it plays a unique and important role.

Specifically, Alexa openly gives detailed site metrics and traffic reporting with its search results that a large number of tools and people use when evaluating a Web site. Also, Alexa has an extensive set of APIs and Web Services that are commonly used by a large number of third party search tools

Alexa is a subsidiary of Amazon.com, and so in my opinion it is likely to continue to grow in stature along with Amazon. As well, it has close ties to both Google and the Open Directory Project, which are both prominent players in the search world.

So bottom line here is that getting your site into Alexa and having it properly catalogued is pretty important.

But the process of claiming your site in Alexa is not easy if you are trying to claim a WordPress.com site. There is a lot of mis-information out there as well as incompletely written instructions (including on the Alexa FAQ site itself). I found this out the hard way today.

In order to save everyone some time I am putting together this article on how I successfully registered my WordPress.com hosted blog with Alexa.

Step #1: was to create an account with Alexa. This is fairly straightforward, just follow the instructions the site gives.

Step #2: Once you have your Alexa login and you are logged into your new account, click on the second toolbar tab on the top of the site titled ‘Claim Your Site’ .

Chet Holmes – We Say Goodbye to A Friend

Chet HolmesChet Holmes Passes Away After Fighting Leukemia

I just saw a post by Chet Holmes partner Tony Robbins saying goodbye to his good friend and business partner Tony Robbins Tribute to Chet Holmes – Tony shares a letter that Chet got for fathers day from his son.

Business Development Guru, Chet Holmes, 55, Has Succumbed to Leukemia

From www.BusinessBreakthroughs.com:

(Los Angeles, CA) After a valiantly fought 17-month battle with Leukemia Chet Holmes peacefully passed on, surrounded by his family, at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.

Chet leaves behind a beautiful family: his adoring wife, Vickey, and his loving children (daughter Amanda and son Jordan).

He also enriched the world with a broad and deep creative legacy. Chet is best known for his breakthrough business best seller: The Ultimate Sales Machine which he authored in 2006 and has remained on Business Best Seller book lists ever since. [Full Story]

Chet Holmes is best known, by the general public, for his AM radio spots. You have probably heard them countless times. He was also the author of The Ultimate Sales Machine. You can check out his extensive Bio at www.onpurposemagazine.com/master-marketing-strategist-chet-holmes

The last time I spoke with Chet was a couple of months ago. I know that he was finished with his drug treatments for Leukemia and he said he was feeling better and the tests seemed positive, so it is with great surprise that I hear about Chet passing.

Chet was such a proud dad and he really was looking forward to entering a new phase of his life. He wanted more than ever, as Tony says, to touch lives, transform and turn around businesses.

Recently Chet wrote a special bio on CaringBridge. You can find at: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/cyranocyrano/mystory

“Three months ago I Was diagnosed with Leukemia.

I have gone through an intensive period of detox, holistic health, massive prayer and sound therapies that are designed to stabilize the body to it’s most healthy self.

I  am surrendered to God’ wisdom on this journey, which is the most powerful place to come from. Nothing can hurt you if you are surrendered to God’s wisdom.

The 3-months-ago- me would’ve never surrendered to anything.” –  Chet Holmes Unknown Date

I invite you to listen to my interview with Chet that took place in April of this year. It is our audio interview and Chets Bio. http://onpurposemagazine.com/2012/04/27/master-marketing-strategist-chet-holmes-is-on-the-way-back/

The last tweet Chet made on June 27th was to repeat one of my posts. He was always so giving and supportive of me and my efforts.

@ChetHOlmes; MT @jwnajarian: 5 years from now, will you remember what you did yesterday? What about the day B4 that? And the day B4 that?

My warmest and most sincere condolences go out to Chet’s family and friends for their terrible loss.

I am grateful for getting to know you Chet, if only for a short time.  I will miss seeing your retweets – JW

Happy 4th of July 2012

Watching the story of Travis Mills, the veteran that lost all four limbs in Afgananistan, who has kept a great attitude as a man, a husband, a father and a patriot, makes me so proud of our US Veterans. Whether or not they were on the front lines or in positions of support. Whether or not they paid the highest price or not, we need to reflect on their necessary contribution to our freedom.

Freedom as a reality and as a concept is so important for us to fight for. There is no religion or political stance that can keep us from all wanting the best for our families.

It is about the dream and hope this country keeps alive for ourselves and the rest of the world.

You don’t have to be in the military to honor freedom and our independence. Believe in freedom. Live in tolerance of others and know that by sticking up for everyones rights you are doing your part.

What does Independence Day mean to you?

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Divorce: Who Will Get What?

By Deanne Katz, Esq. at FindLaw.com

Fri Jun 29, 2012 10:19pm EDT

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are seeking a divorce after almost six years of marriage.

It looks like there won’t be a happy ending for TomKat and it looks like Holmes is the one who wants out. She filed for divorce on Thursday, June 28. The couple has quite a few assets to split, including a huge house in Beverly Hills, and they both have sizable incomes from their acting careers.

Not only that, they’ll have to figure out how to share their 6-year-old daughter Suri Cruise.

The couple lives in Beverly Hills so you would expect California law to be applied to the separation of assets. That said, it will depend on where the divorce case is litigated. Subsequent news reports today have stated that Holmes may have filed anonymously in New York, Reuters reports. Cruise recently showed up alone to premieres for his new musical film, “Rock of Ages.”

There are two types of people in the world: those who realize that this world is constantly reinventing itself and are usually capable of recognizing the new directions in which the world is headed, and those who can’t.

There’s this pathological fear that the world is more and more superficial; kids are dumb, the world is too fast and hungry and wants only to be fed information via an usb cable, people aren’t reading, paperbacks aren’t selling, bookstores are closing, and no one seems to read the newspapers anymore. And this is a global fear, it affects people on all continents, and yet…

Writing with a Deeper Point of View (POV)

Always on the prowl for interesting articles I found these two great blog posts on deepening your POV as a writer and found this so interesting that I had to share them… – JW

Deeper POV

From: iuemag.com

by Jody Lebel, Western Massachusetts

When you write in deep POV (point of view) you will never have to say s/he felt, s/he thought or s/he knew… realized… speculated… wondered… etc. These phrases create narrative distance. They are ‘telling’ sentences. The reader is at arm’s length, not in your character’s head where they belong.

If we are deep into our character’s psyche we can proceed directly to whatever it was s/he was thinking. In deep POV we get straight to the point exactly like the person would, creating ‘showing’ sentences. Here are some examples.

Before: He wondered if Kim would show up at the picnic.
After: Would Kim show up drunk at the picnic like last year and spoil it again?
Before: Two men approached the house. I hoped it wasn’t the cops again.
After: A pair of strangers walked briskly up the walk towards the front door. Not the cops again.
Before: He thought the dog needed a bath.
After:What a smell. He eyed the pristine bathroom then studied the muddy animal. What that dog needed was a good bath.

Another way to write with a deeper POV is to remove the was/were and rephrase with a hook. Start with a basic sentence: The night was dark. Pretty boring! Your reader is yawning…… Read More http://www.iuemag.com/june2012/deeper-pov.php

Deep Point of View

Katie Ganshert June 18, 2012

Rivet your readers with deep point of view writing Jill Elizabeth NelsonDeep point of view allows the reader to feel and experience exactly what our characters feel and experience. Authors who do deep point of view well often create stories that are highly engaging – where the characters come to life and the reader gets lost in the pages.

Once we get the hang of it, deep point of view takes our writing to the next level.

So when I saw a tweet about this book called Rivet Your Readers with Deep Point of View, free on Kindle for a limited time, I was immediately intrigued. I hadn’t read a craft book in awhile, so I hopped on over and downloaded it.

I’m super glad I did.

It is a super quick (it’ll take you an hour, tops), informative read.

Not only did I freshen up on some important writing techniques, I now have a craft book I can recommend to lots and lots of writers.

The author (Jill Elizabeth Nelson) addresses techniques that so many writers fail to employ.

Mistakes I see all the time whenever I critique a piece of writing or judge a contest entry.

Two of the BIGGIES:

  • Authorial Intrusions
  • Prepositional Tells

Authorial Intrusions

Anytime you put an invisible narrator between the reader and the character, you’ve inserted an authorial intrusion.

Phrases like she wondered, she felt, she saw, she wished, she decided are all examples. Purging them from your manuscript will take your prose to the next level.

For example:

She realized where she put her purse.

Can be changed to…

Oh, right. That’s where she left her purse.

Another example:

She spotted the lime green bike swerving through traffic.

Can be changed to… READ MORE http://katieganshert.com/writing/deep-point-of-view/

My Message to U.S. Veteran’s on LinkedIn on this Memorial Day Weekend

As a U.S. Navy veteran and the founder of the largest military and veterans group on LinkedIn, US Veteran, I do what I have done every year and took some time to send out a message to our over 22,000 veteran members.

To all the our Troops, Veterans and Families I wish you all the best this Memorial Weekend. – JW

This Years US Veteran Post for Memorial Day 2012

I was looking around for something inspirational to send out this Memorial Day Weekend and found this small paragraph by 3rd Grader Ali M.

“As the flowers rest on the decorated graves and the sunlight shines on the beautiful sailboats,

Uncle Sam whispers in my ear about how we should care for the soldiers and remember the ones that have died.

Swimming pools open, BBQs fry. Today is the day to think of what they have done for us.

There are blurs of red, white and blue marching down the street and flags are lowered at half-mast. But we should always remember and never forget what set us free, from this very day on.

© 2001 Ali M., 3rd Grader, Academy Elementary School, Madison, Connecticut.

How incredible this 8 or 9 year old was to write this wonderful and imaginative description of Memorial Day, but what really came to mind for me was that Ali M. and her dream of this perfect day of remembrance is exactly what our veterans put their lives on the line for.

So this Memorial Day lets remember the veterans and be grateful for this wonderful life they have given their lives to protect.

13 Things You Never Knew You Could Do On LinkedIn

From a Business Insider Article by Steve Kovach| Apr. 24, 2012, 2:48 PM

A lot of LinkedIn’s ~150 million users don’t know how to unlock its true potential.

The company’s co-founder, Reid Hoffman, said as much in a recent profile by WIRED:

“They think it’s a place they keep their CV online and maybe have some connections with people they know professionally. They don’t think of it as a place to get business intelligence, to research problems, to establish an online presence where other people in the network can find them. It’s as if we’re a screwdriver in a world where people don’t quite understand screws.”

You know if the company’s co-founder says users aren’t using LinkedIn’s power, it must be true.

To help you out, we put together our favorite tips and tricks for LinkedIn.

Not the powerhouse article I would have liked, but if you are struggling or not using LinkedIn or other social media platforms to their full advantage, this might be a good place to start.

Top 10 Ways to Use Pinterest for Business

by Bill Crosby on April 5, 2012

For those of you who do not know, Pinterest is the newest and fastest growing social media website today, and how to use Pinterest for Business should be on your mind. Pinterest  has been able to reach 10 million unique monthly visitors – faster than other social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus. From November 2011 to January 2012, Pinterest’s unique site visitors went  from 4.8 million visitors to 11 million.

Many business people may look at this as a small site, but the truth is, it is not. New members and users are growing at a fast pace since it started. So, by the looks of it, entrepreneurs and markers cannot underestimate the power of Pinterest for Business.

According to Pinterest’s database, 80 percent of its users are female – which means it is now a powerful tool to attract female customers on the Internet. Below is a list of the top 10 ways to use Pinterest for business…… Read the whole Article: Top 10 Ways to Use Pinterest for Business.

Pinterest vs. Google+ Here it Starts! What About Facebook?

Google+ and Pinterest are Growing at Incredible Rates is Facebook a Thing of the Past? Old Hat?

Is Facebook’s 15 minutes of fame over?

I am starting to see stories like the one below that talk about which one is better for the marketer. Pinterest or Google+ and I ask… so where is Facebook in this debate? Is Facebook done and are we moving on?

I am sure that many will say that Facebook is not out… What are you talking about JW? No Facebook is not out, but for a few years we have been talking about not putting all our eggs in one basket as marketers, because we do not know where the pendulum will swing and who will land on top, for what reason or why.

Everyone uses the “Remember MySpace?” question when speaking about where the social technologies are going. No one knows, and I believe it is stories like this one, that kinda start the catalyst of small shifts that start moves to other platforms, even to platforms we cannot even perceive right not.

Waves form, tipping points are hit and we as networkers and marketers are always looking for a better way. A leg up on the competition and we want to be the early adopter, as the early bird seems to get the most worms.

Instagram sells for 1Billion to Facebook! Who’d a seen that coming. Now that Instagram is available on the Android will this app take off as the next big place you have to be? Will other companies do Instagram better? Can Pinterest add pages and allow for picture manipulation?

Speaking of Pinterest… What about Meaki?

What do you think is the next big wave… Is all this short lived fad or long term paradigm shifts in how people and business will communicate?

By the way… Business pages for Google +… Is anyone using them successfully? I have not seen them pointed to, talked about or used in any manner that seems to matter and Facebook took their configurable pages and will not allow you to default to them anymore so what is the use of them?

Am I the only one that seems to be in a constant state of confusion?

Pinterest vs. Google+: Which New Social Network Is Worth Marketers’ Time?.

google plus vs pinterestintroductory3

We’ve all gotten used to the idea of using Twitter, Facebook, and even YouTube for marketing — even if the platforms aren’t always as brand-friendly as they could be. And why should they be? They started as social networks meant for people to talk to people, not companies to talk to consumers. But in the struggle for monetization, they’ve had to adapt and continue offering ways for brands to market and make money using social media.

Quote On Purpose

“The greatest discovery you’ll ever make, is the potential of your own mind.” — Jose Silva

Double Rainbow at Squaw Valley CaliforniaIf we can loose our ego for a moment and just be… Not comparing ourselves to others or thinking about what you have done or not done and what your going to do next or not do next…

If you can just breathe in the moment and let yourself be aware in the moment you will find that you are part of a large and infinite universe.

Say yes to everything and take the challenge handed to you. Lean into fear and you will discover just how brilliant you are. – JW

JW On Purpose 2011 in review

JW On Purpose officially started in June of 2011. There was no big fanfare, just a lot of trying to put up stories as fast as I could.

JWOP was The Networking Fools and we had a rough start. We got some good numbers, but our original idea to add sites of bloggers to our blog was not working out so well.

I decided to take the content I had and start my own blog, which miracoulously got 911 hits that month… Here is my 2011 Annual Report for all my stock holders… I am looking for sponsors or others that are interested in what I do and want to help.

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 10,000 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Pasadena Rose Parade and Bowl 2012 B2 Bomber Fly By

b2 stealth bomberB2 Stealth “Spirit” Bomber Flies over the 2012 123rd Rose Parade and the Neighborhoods Nearby.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aes9-wtaxsg]Every year, as we live close to Pasadena, we get to see the B-2 Stealth “Spirit” Bombers as they line up to fly over the Rose Parade. Every year they fly a different route, but somehow seem to always come close enough to our house to get some great pictures.

Today the B2 was piloted (per KTLA Announcement) by Capt Brian “HasNo” Stiles and Capt Josh “Trap Door”

You can see their footage.. Very Cool as they followed by air… The B2 footage starts at 4min 24seconds into the clip: http://www.ktla.com/videogallery/67108021/News/KTLA-Rose-Parade-2012-Part-1

I edited video I took just today and last year of the Stealth Spirit Bomber just before it flew over the parade…. I sneeked in a 2011 clip just cause it was good…

Rose Parade 2001We love the parade, and watch it from the comfort and safety of our house every year. We did go one year as we had friends that had a store on Colorado Ave where the parade runs.

It was great to go and see the floats close up and since we were also honored to have worked on the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Float, it was great seeing the float we worked on go by. We like it better from home though.

Rose Parade 2001 FloatDon’t miss my interview with Phoenix Children’s Hospital Behavioral Sciences, Dr. Kotlow on Mood Disorders in children. They need your help to save great programs from losing funding.

Gluing flower petals to on a float is long painstaking work and we salute the volunteers that help with the floats year after year.

Happy Thanksgiving

I would like to wish everyone I am connected with a wonderful and warm Thanksgiving.

I am thankful for my wife who shows me how much she loves and supports me every day.

I am thankful for my family, for all we go through the love is always what pulls us through.

It has been a tough ativan couple of years, but in working constantly on keeping the attitude of gratitude, top of mind aware, whenever things start looking grim, has really helped make these tough years some of the best ever.

Here are a couple of pics from our yard this year……

Warmest Regards

Great News – Someone May Owe You Money!

Someone May Owe You Money!

How Do You Find Out? Read On…

My mother called me today to give me a couple of sites to look at. One was for Omega 3 rich oil from the green lipped mussel. I have taken Moxxor for a couple of years so I didn’t need that lead, but I will share it here – OmegaXL.

I make no claims with either of these supplements, but I am a big proponent of Omega 3 intake.

Anyway the other site she mentioned was http://www.Unclaimed.Org this site checks for monies owed you that you may not know about.

Seems my mom went on and found a couple of bucks and so did my brother. One of my mom’s friends found over $800 bucks owed to her. NICE….

I checked my name and not a cent to me…. My wife was owed .05 cents, but my mother in law hit the jackpot for a few hundred!! NICE….

It is a government site so there is no scam here. The site directs you to each different state site that checks their database for lost monies.

This is great stuff. Check it Out and if you hit it REAL BIG. Help a brother out and send a finders fee.

FREEDOM AWARDS

Free the Slaves created the Freedom Awards to celebrate today’s anti-slavery heroes and to catalyze additional innovation and resources to end slavery once and for all. The Awards program will define what successful, anti-slavery work looks like and build a vision of freedom for change-makers to adopt. More>>

FREE THE SLAVES

Mission

Our mission is to end slavery worldwide. We believe that ending slavery is an ambitious–and realizable–goal. Everyone has a role to play in this great endeavor: Governments, businesses, international aid organizations, consumers, YOU.

Guiding Principles

  • We believe that all people have the right to be free from any form of slavery, and the opportunity to realize their full potential.
  • We are committed to supporting sustainable solutions which don’t hurt those we’re trying to help.
  • We seek to base all our strategies on accurate research.
  • We are committed to building a diverse movement and to seeking guidance from local and regional anti-slavery programs around the planet.
  • We are non partisan and politically independent.
  • We are transparent with our finances and programs.

Everything we do is weighed against one simple question: Will this help free slaves and help them stay free?

Approach

Free the Slaves’ knows that slavery flourishes when people cannot meet their basic needs. Slavery is rampant where poor people lack economic opportunities, education, healthcare and an honest government. A holistic approach is required to eradicate slavery forever. That’s why we:

  •  Free slaves around the world by working with grassroots organizations where slavery flourishes.
  • Record and share their stories so people in power can see slavery and be inspired to work for freedom.
  • Enlist businesses to clean slavery out of their product chains and empower consumers to stop buying into slavery.
  • Work with governments to produce effective anti-slavery laws then hold them to their commitments.
  • Research what works and what doesn’t so that we use resources strategically and effectively to end slavery. Forever.

The whole red carpet and show were done first class with Ricky Byers Beckwith and the Agape Choir to Ashton and Demi speaking at the event it was a great time with a solid message of hope as the awardees received their awards, telling stories of deep sadness and pain only to inspire us with their courage and their actions to eradicate slavery in their life or for others.

Here are some pictures I took on the red carpet. To see them all go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/jwnajarian/sets/72157625306483187/
