Danielle Rios brings Interior Design From the Runway to GBK Oscar Gift Suite

Danielle Rios brings Interior Design From the Runway to GBK Academy Awards Gifting Suite

DanielleRiosImageSm

Interior Designer Danielle Rios takes inspiration from Alexander McQueen, worn by Jessica Chastain and Nicole Kidman and Anne Hathaway’s Valentino for the design of GBK’s 2013 Oscar Luxury Lounge.

Going to the many gifting suites in Los Angeles you will find that many are held in the some of the hottest and best known hotels in Hollywood and Beverly Hills. GBK is no different, except that GBK always goes one step further and does a complete design concept for each event.

It is always exciting to walk in to see what wonderful design concept they have come up with for each event and this year for the Academy Awards I was lucky enough to find out who was designing.

The following was my conversation with Danielle Rios designer and Nadine Jolson part of GBK PR all about the show and the incredible designs based on exquisite gowns from Valentino and Alexander McQueen, for this year.JW

From Runways to Red Carpets to Oscar Lounges, Rios will showcase fashion-influenced vignettes, styled with an elegant, edgy display of furnishings and decorative touches at the lounge for Nominees and Presenters.  The celebrity-gifting event will be held at the Sofitel Hotel in Los Angeles on Friday February 21st and Saturday February 22nd from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“I believe that there is always the possibility for style and unexpected glamour,” says Rios, “I am thrilled and honored to be working with the leader in luxury gift lounges, GBK.” – Danielle Rios

Rios, a former Tadashi model, takes her experience from the runway to interior design for high-end residential, hospitality and commercial designs. By infusing her knowledge and expertise from both worlds, Rios established a unique trademark in creating fashionable interiors. The mixing of fashion sensibilities and interior design is a collective approach that she takes with every job.

“Time-honored style and fresh avant-garde elements create dynamic groupings and spaces,” Rios says.  A modernist at heart, Rios adds a traditional twist into her designs.

Contributing manufactures and contractors are: Elitis wall coverings and Bergamo and Rubelli fabric by Donghia Inc., Gaetano fabric by Elan Collections, Leather by Moore & Giles Inc., Nolita Sofa from the Magni Collection, Kailash Table by Chista, Grand Facet by Gary Hutton, Sophia Floor Lamp by Fuse Lighting, Reborn Antiques, Ryan Gallery, and John Jory LLC. s

Rios received her Bachelors of Science for Architectural Interior Design from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She is a registered Interior Designer and Associate for AIA in the state of Nevada and has offices in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Danielle’s high expectations and personal drive have launched her into an exciting venture of design and construction development. Working on multi-million dollar estates, commercial properties and collaborating with Clientele has proven to be a successful endeavor. Since the commencement of her business, the focus has been on predominately high-end residential, hospitality and commercial design. This past year however, Danielle has expanded her creativity to antique furniture importation and renovation. Creating unique pieces into timeless furniture with an updated style and sense of elegance has expanded her savvy expertise in design.

Prior to Danielle creating her own business, her formative years were rooted in hospitality design. She worked and cultivated her skill for two leading design firms in Las Vegas for six years. Soon after, those connections led to a joint design venture that launched luxury international hospitality projects. It was during those formative years that she realized that her enthusiasm for design was geared around creating alluring, exciting spaces and adjusting with an ever-changing world.

Danielle Rios was born in Puerto Rico. She received her Bachelors of Science for Architectural Interior Design from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and is a registered Interior Designer in the state of Nevada. Danielle is currently operating out of Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

John L. Perdue Announced as Art Quench Gallery’s 2012 October Landscape Competition Winner

John L. Perdue Announced Winner of The 2012 ” October Landscape”  Competition by Art Quench Magazine

Small Lake John L. Perdue

Title; Small lake

Art Quench Competition Juror; Monica Hicks…

The clarity and intensity of his images are really captivating. The landscapes feel visceral and I can imagine that there is some digital enhancements, which I like. If not, I still appreciate his work. The still-ness of water and the frozen clouds in the the atmosphere are so…calming.  This is work that quiets the soul.

More on John…

The photography bug caught me about 1972 with the purchase of a used, yet quality 35mm SLR. Within three years photography courses from two institutions had been completed.

Multiple workshops on lighting and darkroom technique followed, and then an apprenticeship in portraiture. With an enlistment expired it was off to home and college. Photography provided an income by producing portraits, slides for commercial use, advertisements, and prints of real estate, all processed in my darkroom. When the business world called, photography became a passionate hobby for many years.

The switch to digital happened in 2000. All the basics of photography that served so well with film became just as relevant with digital. After many dollars in equipment and many hours of training, the digital image became an art form developing in the computer.

Photographers still paint with light but now process the images in the computer instead of the darkroom. When an image during processing becomes a scene that is harmonious in color and form, pleasant to the eye, and striking in the mind, it becomes art instead of just a photograph. Some of my images are very real with great detail, some are surreal portraying an emotion.

All have been heavily processed requiring many hours of work. All are intended to be a pleasant viewing experience for you.  I sincerely hope that you thoroughly enjoy viewing my work as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Robyn Graham is Announced Winner of Art Quench 2012 “Things I Am Thankful For” Art Competition

image001Art Quench Announces The 2012 “Things I Am Thankful For” Competition Winner; Robyn Graham

Robyn grew up in a small town in Southern Illinois. At the time Robyn lived there, the population of Nashville was approximately 3,000 people.  Nashville was a quiet farming community located 60 miles east of St. Louis, Missouri.  Robyn’s parents and grandparents took advantage of the proximity and often took Robyn and her three sisters into the city for day trips to the Zoo, the Theater, the Art Museum, and other activities.

image001Robyn’s love for photography began at a very young age.  She loved to take photographs and capture events and special times with friends and family.  One of her favorite memories related to photography was using her parents’ Polaroid camera and taping all of the pictures up on a dining room cabinet door to display them.

Further influencing Robyn’s love for photography, were two local award-winning photographers.  Steve Humphrey is a portrait and wedding photographer still working in Nashville, Illinois. In addition to Steve, was Charlie Palek, also a portrait and wedding photographer whose portfolio includes landscapes, events, and images from his travels.     True inspirations.

image001Despite her love for photography, Robyn chose a career in pharmacy.  A neighbor and local pharmacist influenced this decision.  She attended St. Louis College of Pharmacy and graduated with a doctorate degree in 1995.   Robyn’s husband John also has a career in pharmacy, which brought the couple and their three children to historic Bucks County, the landscape of much of Robyn’s inspiration.

image001What draws Robyn to photography?  Other than capturing life, the art form.  Her mother is an artist – she paints.  Robyn’s father was a master craftsman in woodworking.  Two of her sisters have artistic vision and talent and can draw and paint.  Another sister writes beautiful poetry.  Art and faith have always been influential in their family life.

Robyn’s philosophy on photography is about taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary; about capturing life and life’s events; documenting special moments and visions.  For the majority of her life photography was a hobby.  More recently, with the birth of her children, photography became a passion.  In 2010 she took the necessary steps to further develop her skills in, and knowledge of, the world of photography.   She enrolled in classes and with the support of her loving husband and family was able to make the transition from passionate amateur to professional photographer.  Her career took root with the publication of her blog, Robyn Graham Photography.com through the sharing of her art and passion.

Today, Robyn is very thankful for the encouragement and support of family and friends and feels exceptionally blessed and humbled by being able to call herself an award-winning photographer.

Robyn Graham’s Bio;image001

Dr. Graham originally chose a career in pharmacy, but has recently taken her passion of photography from a hobby to a profession and is now working as a professional photographer.  Robyn’s true love is fine art photography and her passion is capturing life through her lens to share the world with others.

Robyn is an award winning and published photographer.  Her work has been featured in ViewBug Photography Magazine, The Buck’s County Herald and several newsletters and websites.  She is the feature photographer for the Solebury Club Yoga department in Buckingham, Pennsylvania.

Robyn has participated in the Galaxy Art Show and Sale, a juried showcase of artists from Buck’s County, Pennsylvania.  In addition, Robyn recently won a photography competition through Art Quench Gallery, a fine art Gallery.  It is Robyn’s goal to continue to apply to, and participate in juried art exhibits.

Writing Your Backstory or Point of View for the OPM Contest

The On Purpose Magazine (OPM) Author Book Competition is not based on your book, but rather on your story around the book. OPM wants to help authors promote their books and believe the first thing you need to have is a great package put together to help promote, market and sell you and your book.

OPM has put a contest together to find the most original, compelling and great backstory or author point of view which will be the basis of all your promotional and marketing efforts going forward.

Here are the questions you will be asked to answer for the competition and an explanation of how to answer them to help you build a winning entry.

Even if you do not enter the competition and you should… just check out the prizes; you will end up building a very strong foundation for the rest of your marketing and promotional campaigns going forward so have fun and get creative!

The following is an outline of the lesson on the audio. Use both guide you or not. There is no right way to answer these questions. I am sure many of you will answer from the heart and just blow us away and some of you will step out of the box, the box is in.

OPM Author / Book contest questions

Who Is The Author?

Give Us Your Story, Background, History or something interesting that might tie you to the book.

  1. Share your experiences about your back ground history (often called your back story) to give the reader a way to connect with you.
  2. Concentrate your story on an inspiring and/or exciting experience from your life.
  3. Don’t discount the power of others relating to you if the experience is common and not action packed. Common threads are strong connections.
  4. Develop your backstory and share your emotions to connect to your reader.
  5. Have a short one minute back story as well as a longer version such as a five minute presentation. Likely you will get the most mileage from your short sound bites for media related experiences and the longer versions when you have the opportunity to more deeply connect with your readers/audience.

 What Is This Book About?

What is the theme? Give us a short Description of the Book and the Story.

  1. Your theme or genre to your book is also a form of branding. You may have more than one applicable theme. If so, prioritize your themes and lead with the strongest.
  2. Develop your description of the book in ways to invoke the reader’s senses such as sight, sound, taste or touch. In video and television interviews, strong visuals are strong forms of publicity.
  3. Keep your description short in length of words and impactful in meaning of your words. In the media, the less you say …the more they will listen. It’s how you say it that can be most impactful.
  4. Be purposeful as to the order of words and sentences in your descriptions. The first impression rule still applies and you can set the tone and support the mood of the reader from beginning to end.

Why Did You Write This Book?

What compelled you to write this book? Why you and not someone else?

  1. Combine your unique back story with your special interests and skills when sharing the reasons why you wrote your book. Having a unique fusion of inspiration with special skills makes your brand more difficult to copy by others competing for publicity.
  2. Differentiate your writing styles and share why your take on your top is unique.
  3. Reveal something about yourself that is specific only to you as an author or person.
  4. Share your reasons to write this book that may be different from what inspires other authors or readers of your topic.

Why should someone read this book?

Why should someone read this book and who should read this book? Who will this book entertain, inspire, educate, and help?

  1. List all the reasons your book can help other people and make a difference.
  2. Categorize the reasons that can help readers immediately in their lives, and the ones that can help them long term as well as those reasons that just might make them smile or feel like they are a part of something special that is bigger than them as one person.
  3. Then pick the top three reasons from each of these three areas to support your reason why someone should read your book to answer the questions readers often ask themselves pharmacy no prescription subconsciously. (What’s in it for me)
  4. Determine who your target market is and adjust your language and pinpoint your promotional campaign to reach the groups that have the highest interest in your book.

The Contest

Over 3 Million books come out every year and only a handful of them make any money or get any recognition. In fact 50% of all new books make less than $250 on average in their first year!

This is a startling and amazingly sad fact and it is not because the books are not worthy, solid, or wonderful, but because the marketing efforts behind the books are almost non existent or worse, a lot of money is spent in the wrong direction.

I have interviewed many bestselling and not best selling authors and I always get the same feedback. Marketing and promotions is the hardest part of writing a book.

What is one of the best ways to market and promote? Simple, let people get to know you. Exposure is not enough. You need the right type of exposure. This helps you build credibility and puts you on course to build a community which is one of the best ways to create buzz and sell more books.

On Purpose Magazine Wants To Help Authors Promote Their Books

On Purpose Magazine is doing something different and very special for the new and not so new author to help them get more of the right type of exposure.

We will not be reading your book! What?? How can you have a Author / Book Competition / Contest without reading the book? Again Simple…

If you write a great book, give it a fantastic title and put a great picture on the front… guess how many people will beat a path to your door to get this book? Generally no one. First people need to know that it is available, but more importantly people need a reason to pick it up to read.

What is the best way to promote my book?

Through my many interviews and working with authors and publicists and public relations executives I have learned that what an author needs beyond a great book, is a well defined, compelling, interesting or relate-able story.

The Author needs to get exposure from many different sources.

  • Radio (Internet, Satellite and Terrestrial)
  • Television (Internet, Local and National)
  • Newspaper
  • Magazines
  • Industry Publications
  • Other Publications
  • Associations
  • Groups
  • Word of Mouth
  • and Many Others

But are you ready for your close up? Do you know what you are going to say or how your going to say it?

Many of the 3 million authors will never get their work exposed and many others will get some type of exposure, but waste it by not knowing what to say and how to present themselves.

What an author needs is a package that is put together and tested. Starting with a headshot, bio and compelling book description. It will also be nice to have a professional interview with a professional publication, completed and on your resume.

This is what this contest will give the author. On Purpose Magazine’s contest is all about what we call the author’s Point of View (POV). The POV is the author’s backstory, reason for writing the book and reason why the reader absolutely needs to have this book or get it for a friend..

OPM’s contest will choose a winner based on the best POV submitted. The winner will receive one of our Gold Premium Promotional Package including a full page story with a full 30 minute professional interview that will be featured in OPM and shared out to thousands and thousands of readers, industry people and is, of course, yours to distribute as you see fit all your promotional needs. There will also be other bonuses from our industry sponsors.

button OPM Promotional Packages

So by the time you are done you will have:

  • A Headshot (you supply the headshot, but you have to have one for the interview and you can take it with your cell phone, but don’t screw yourself. Take a decent one.)
  • A Bio (You must supply this also, but if you complete the contest, believe me you will have a great one.)
  • A Point of View (The basis for all your marketing, promotion, interviews and more)
  • A professional interview published on a recognized web magazine.
  • One great resume entry

For new authors this will be you breaking the ice and getting more and more interviews or speaking engagements. For some of you seasoned authors this will be a chance for you to get more and better exposure and to dust off your old POV and create another, or it may be your chance to get noticed in the new social media.

It is Snowing at On Purpose Magazine

http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mdhx7ivcE91rl4tbmo1_1280.jpg

In the spirit of the holidays, it will be Snowing at the  On Purpose Magazine website till January 4th.

Come and check it out and all the wonderful stories and our first ever Author / Book contest / competition.

I grew up around snow…. My father was in the Air Force and it seems that we were stationed in many cold weather places where I got to see snow as a young kid, such as Plattsburgh, NY and Carterton, in West Oxfordshire in the U.K. and eventually my mother and my brother and sister settled in Lake Tahoe, CA and NV.

Snow was what winter and the holidays were about and when I first spend a Christmas away from home it was soooo depressing. I was stationed, while in the U.S. Navy, in San Diego, CA and though it was a wonderfully sunny Christmas Day, it lacked everything I thought I knew about Christmas.’

I now live in Los Angeles and have had rainy Christmases and wonderfully sunny Christmases, but never a snowy one. Yes we have had snow in Los Angeles a couple of times, but never on Christmas.

The point is that I love snow for the holidays and do miss it, but I have learned not to be depressed due to incredibly great weather.

I also have to admit that if reminded, going to school, work or important events can really suck in the snow and sliding off the road is not fun, or putting on chains when your hands are frozen, or slipping and falling or shoveling the walk or going out to carry in firewood and….. well you get the picture.

So at On Purpose Magazine we will make it snow 24/7 for your enjoyment, without any of the hassles. Make sure you stay on the page a second as it starts out very subtle and then it picks up the longer you stay.

Come take a peek and while your their listen or watch one of our great videos or podcasts. We try and put in tons of helpful content that you can use now and share throughout the year.

Happy Holidays to you and yours… – JW

10 Rules To A Higher Life

I saw this posted on a chiropractors wall and really liked it.

Ten Rules to a Higher LifeI have made this graphic to share on Facebook and G+ etc.

I looked it up further and found this great post on the derivation and deeper meaning.

Let me know what you think or feel free to share it with others. – JW

Ten Rules to a Higher Life – Taken from Pavlina Post

These rules were created

, an incredible man and teacher who founded the Concept-Therapy course of instruction.

  1. Find No Fault
  2. Look for the good, and Go About Doing Good
  3. Never Criticize Nor Condemn
  4. Enslave No One
  5. Speak Not of Yourself
  6. Be Truthful
  7. Have Compassion
  8. Eliminate the Negative
  9. Meditate
  10. Work

Here is what Dr. Fleet had to say regarding his ten rules. “When shall now give you Ten Laws, Ten Rules, that you may try out in your own way. As you begin to bring your expression in harmony with these Rules, you will be inclined towards the Good of Life which, magnified to Infinity, is what we call the Being named God. In other words, you are striving to gain the God that is within you”.

1. Find No Fault

This is pretty straight-forward, “Find No Fault”. Are you finding fault with the way God is running the world? Are you finding fault with the people, places, and things in your life? If you said “yes” to either of those questions, then you are violating this rule.

Dr. Fleet would recommend an exercise in which a person would try to find no fault with anything for two weeks! Most people can’t even do it for a day! Try it for yourself. Here is the exercise taken from the book Cosmic Principles:

“Each morning when you arise, say to yourself: “Today I will find no fault with any person, place, or thing. If God has control of the whole universe, then I will adapt myself to His way of running it. No matter who comes around, or what happens, I will not find fault. I will try to obey this one law”.

As you find no fault, you will fault that peace will come unto you. You will be less enslaved and apt to react to the negative in life and will be more in tune to the good.

Happy Thanksgiving From On Purpose Magazine

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

To speak gratitude is courteous and pleasant, to enact gratitude is generous and noble, but to live gratitude is to touch Heaven. ~ Johannes A. Gaertner

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we HAVE into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” – Melanie Beattie

Philippe Halaburda

Philippe Halaburda lives currently near Aix-en-provence in France. As an artist, Philippe paints on many different supports developing his personal style using acrylic paints, as well as textures and other mediums. His art can be found in collections, homes and offices throughout Europe, North America, Canada, and Australia.

“I am born in 1972 in Meaux in France. I studied Graphic Design in Paris and graduated in 1996 with an honors degree. I have developed my own style of painting since then. My paintings inhabit the border between figuration and abstraction. They are also in a constant state of flux and suggest different things to different people. I see them as a springboard for the imagination. Lines, shapes and paint stains can suggest me some things I would never consciously designed one.

I begin by making random marks on the canvas with a paper pencil or a brush, without any preconceived ideas at all of what the finished work is going to look like. The accidents and chance are used to provide the starting point for each artwork.

The subjects I choose to develop, the supports I paint on, the colours I use – all these things are inevitably a product of my own environment, experience and my memories. The painting is complete when there is no more need to change.

I wish that my paintings have a real presence, they magnify the space, own it.
When I begin a new painting, I never know what will be my creating composition. I discover along the way and try to be my own audience. I put myself in danger, out of balance, to keep my mind opened, in search of this thread suspended over the void. To further accentuate this state, I always start by painting several media simultaneously.

This is what I call «series». I have always worked like this. They define them by the dominant colors, more or less the distribution of space charge, the first brush stroke, sometimes the choice of words and especially the support chosen. This influenced my artistic approach. I see a critical access to other treatments of color and form, an opportunity for renewal while enhancing the contours of my artistic identity.

The brush stroke is unexpected, strong, ripped, working in different ways and with different materials. I use simple techniques often some improvisation and confusion for me but very logical. I sometimes overlapping, multiple layers of paint, volunteers to cross the lines, to boil the tracks, giving false directions, with the ultimate goal of allowing multiple approaches to the table.”

In Recognition of Our Beloved Veterans

On This Veterans Day November 11th, 2012 Let Us Remember:

It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,

And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Information – How to Help

How We Can Help Hurricane Sandy Victims

The needs are huge. Families are displaced and although government and private industry are working around the clock to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy, but many people need help right now and there are some great organizations that need our support to help the victims. Check them out and give what you can.

The American Red Cross The widespread damage by Hurricane Sandy just a few days ago left millions of families in the hard-hit regions without power, and thousands were forced to evacuate from their homes.

On the night Sandy made landfall, the American Red Cross responded immediately, with more than 250 shelters open across sixteen states that provided overnight stays to nearly 11,000 people. Sandy is a big and destructive storm, and the relief efforts for Sandy will be long and difficult. People will continue to need help for weeks, even months, to put their lives back together. Reports from ABC News say that many blood drives were cancelled due to the storm and now there is a need for donor blood in the NY NJ area.  The New York Blood Center is urging people to donate blood for those in the New York/New Jersey area. To donate, call 800-933-2566 or visit www.nybloodcenter.org.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is currently serving Hurricane Sandy survivors and first responders in seven states with food, water, cleanup kits, emotional and spiritual care, and more. If you would like to support those impacted by Hurricane Sandy, please visit www.SalvationArmyUSA.org.

The Salvation Army continues its feeding and sheltering activities in the most heavily impacted areas including New York and New Jersey where coastal devastation and flooding remain major issues.

West Virginia and Maryland are facing a different kind of disaster with record snowfalls leaving thousands without power.

Feeding America

As the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief organization, Feeding America is preparing to provide food, water and other supplies to those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Thousands of pounds of supplies are already stationed near the anticipated disaster zone to make sure that those affected by the storm have immediate access to food and water.

Through a network of more than 200 food banks and 61,000 food pantries, emergency shelters and soup kitchens,  Feeding America is able to reach into disaster affected communities with basic needs supplies including food, water and cleaning products. It is anticipated that the service areas of 25 to 35 Feeding America food banks could be adversely affected by the storm.

The organization has pre-staged emergency food supplies throughout the nation, including significant quantities of food and water at the Community Food Bank of New Jersey in Hillside.

These provisions can be to quickly transport to food banks throughout the region as they are needed.

Save the Children

Save the Children will deploy emergency response teams today to coastal and northern New Jersey to assess the needs of children in areas devastated by Hurricane Sandy. New Jersey bore the brunt of the storm, which caused widespread destruction along the East Coast, displacing thousands from their homes and leaving millions without power.

“We as a nation have a moral obligation to protect the most vulnerable during disasters, our children. We have to do everything we can to minimize the negative and long-lasting effect these events can have on children and provide the support they need,” said Mark Shriver, senior vice president of Save the Children’s U.S. Programs. “That’s why Save the Children is deploying our emergency response teams to the hardest-hit areas of New Jersey to assess the needs of children and their families and ensure a quick recovery of essential services, such as child care.”

As Sandy approached, the Save the Children distributed advice to families for keeping children safe during the hurricane.

“Hurricane Sandy impacted millions of lives, forcing many families in high-risk areas to flee from their homes and seek safety in shelters. Here at Save the Children, we know from experience that children are always the most vulnerable in any emergency situation,” said Carolyn Miles, Save the Children’s President and CEO. “Through our preparedness, response and recovery programs, we continue to put the unmet needs of children and their caregivers first.” DONATE to Save the Children

Hurricane Sandy has left a mess that will take some time to dig out of. So many heroic stories have been told and many more will come out of this tragedy.

jw najarian and larry jones of feed the childrenI had worked with two of these charities in the past with stellar results.

I was asked to help as the Los Angeles Coordinator for Feed333’s campaign to feed, give toys and other essentials to kids all around the nation for Christmas. Feed333 had previously been on record for feeding more people in one day then any other national program.

I worked with the awesome staff at the Salvation Army in South Central Los Angeles and Larry Jones of Feed the Children showed up with 18, 18 wheeler trucks full of food and water.

We did not make them one meal, but gave each family enough food and essentials to last a week.

I can’t recall what the numbers were. I believe we fed around 4500 families so at an average of 4 members per family that should be around 18,000 people for a week? Don’t quote me on those numbers, but we also served similar numbers in Phoenix and San Francisco that day.

I was so thankful for their help and commitment and I know that right now someone who has been devastated is feeling just a bit better for one of these organizations help.

I first reported on Feeding America when I interviewed Samantha Harris formerly of Dancing with the Stars and recently with Stars Earn Strips, about her support of making sure hungry American kids were taken care of in our story Samantha Harris on Feeding Americas Hungry Children. This is another great organization that helps so many.

The American Red Cross. Everyone knows that you can count of the Red Cross to make sure that in times of need, people have food and shelter along with emergency medical treatments and so much more.

Again we salute all the organizations and individuals that are helping and you too for doing your part. – JW
