I talk a lot about inbound marketing which is all about offering valuable content so targeted leads come and find you via word of mouth, or search engines etc., but you do have to use all the tools in your tool chest and email is one of the most powerful outbound marketing you can do besides cold calling.

Email managed correctly can deliver a low cost, return on investment marketing tool.

I have tried many of the various email vendors with varying results.

All the ones I have used were competent and got the job done. Some were easier to use than others and features varied slightly from one service to another.

The company I stuck with was Benchmark Email. To be honest, once you start with one of these companies it can be tough to move your contact lists and campaigns so the decision to stay was based more on not wanting to go through the hassle, but I am glad I did.

As I stated earlier I have had the chance to use some of the other mail programs and I can easily say that my decision to stay with Benchmark was a good one. They have all of the best of the best features and make them easy to use and I have found their tech and customer support to under promise and over deliver. I like that and think that most companies have forgotten how to serve it’s clients with courtesy and respect.

  1. That would be an issue if you did not get opt in agreement with the sendee. Newsletters are a good example of something that uses more graphics.

    I was only commenting on the differences I saw between the two. For marketing more graphics may or may not be better.

    The whole spam issue is really dead if you are sending to your opt in list of clients you have spent time to build rapport with.

    I used to be marked for spam because I used to send out to blanket lists, but have not seen a remove me in some time. I like to build community and relationships. I use social media to do inbound marketing and have my targeted customers come to me and want to be on my list.

  2. Great question Matt, when I used aWeber it was with an MLM company as aWeber was low cost and was used by many MLM’s at the time. It was also very text driven as opposed to Constant Contact or Benchmark which were very graphic rich.
    I have not used it in some time so it is hard to comment. Also I am an affiliate of Benchmark so I would have automatic bias.

    I believe all the companies are good and have the capability to do a great job for their clients. What I want to point out here is that my main issues with the services are training and customer service and I use and endorse Benchmark because they have worked for me.

  3. I have not heard of these guys before but the review sounds promising.

    How do they compare to aWeber who i have found have a very good service but also a very sluggish customer service response time with often cryptic replies.
