Warning: Some Adult Content….

After years of abusing alcohol and several attempts at rehab, Successful businessman Justin Daniels decided that there was a better path to rehabilitation and so he started Clarity Way ®

What is nice about being the editor and founder of On Purpose Magazine is that I get to choose the books I review and the stories I do.

When told of Justin Daniels book I wanted to take a look at it as addiction has plagued me, some of my friends and others in my family.

I was pleased to start reading Justin’s  book and find out that Justin is a great storyteller and he gets you interested in his story and the stories of others.

The book also promises to be a great resource and I believe that in, especially part three, that he delivers on that promise.

Even better is the interview I got to do with him. I got to shoot questions at Justin and we had a wonderful conversation about addiction and rehabilitation.

My hope is that this interview will be as helpful to some people out there as this book is. – JW

Justin Daniels

Author of No More Vodka In My Orange Juice:  Finding My Path To Clarity published by Clarity Way.

To the outside world, Justin Daniels was a very successful businessman, a loving husband and a doting father.

Daniels owned and operated a disaster restoration business, construction company, flooring company, daycare business, and real estate holdings.  His ServiceMaster franchises were in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Florida and aided in the restoration at the Pentagon after 9/11 and the hurricanes in Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, and Florida.

Despite all of his success, Justin faced struggles with addiction to both drugs and alcohol.  The reality his world was crashing down around him.

Justin Daniels is an addict.  He’s an addict who sought and found help.  He’d be the first to tell you he should be dead, given his history, but he’s not, unlike others who were in rehab with him.  To his knowledge, only six out of 25 who were in rehab with him in 2007 are alive today.

One week into that rehab experience (his second) he determined that his life’s calling is to help others find their path to recovery.  He’s so passionate about this mission and committed to it that he and his wife, Robin, have divested themselves of their other business interests to focus on Clarity Way.  This is the first-class, medically-supervised, custom drug treatment and alcohol rehab facility that offers a fresh, compassionate perspective to addiction treatment.  Clarity Way opened in Hanover, PA on November 8, 2007, the one year anniversary of when Justin left the second rehab facility where he received successful treatment.

As Justin explained to a local newscaster the evening Clarity Way opened, “I’ve been through rehab.  I’m personally in recovery, and I wanted to create the dream place I wish I could have come through.  I want to use my struggles to help others.”

Written to provide inspiration for other addicts, Daniels understands how to motivate them to find their path to recovery.  Justin speaks from the heart and from personal experience.  He offers solutions, guidance and empowerment.  He is proof that anyone can achieve a fulfilling sober life.

“I wrote No More Vodka In My Orange Juice to provide a simple, user friendly guide to aid people who are interested in finding their own path to recovery.  I wish I could have read this book along my personal journey and hope it brings the gifts and joys of living a clean and sober life to all who read it,” he says.  “I share the details of my story so others can understand that they are not alone.  My story is real, heartfelt and brutally honest; written for real people who want real answers and liv real lives.  It serves as a catalyst for launching the recovery process,” he adds.  “Sobriety is a lifelong learning process,” he concludes.

Amazon Top 100 Bestseller

No More Vodka In My Orange Juice:  Finding My Path To Clarity, by Justin Daniels, published by Clarity Way, $24.99 hardcover, $14.99 softcover, $9.99 ebook, is his legacy of hope, intended to help other addicts find their path to recovery.

A fresh new and compassionate approach to addiction recovery by an author who is successfully recovering himself. Recovery is a learning process J Daniels understands and now uses to motivate other addicts to find their own path to recovery. He speaks from his heart and offers guidance and solutions leading to empowerment. Justin is living proof that anyone who wants to bad enough can achieve a fulfilling sober life.

As someone who has struggled with active addiction, Justin knows that it is possible to recover and find peace.  He’s been able to do this through his own journey, which has included inpatient rehab stays.  With a strong support system and belief in himself, Justin has not only moved forward in his own right, but has inspired others to do the same.

Recovery is an ongoing learning experience.  Unlike Justin’s initial rehab attempt, relapse doesn’t have to be part of recovery.  The statistics, however, can be frightening… to his knowledge, only six of 25 people who were in rehab with Justin are still alive today.  That’s a statistic he intends to change, to ensure that more recovery attempts are successful.

No More Vodka In My Orange Juice is full of passion, personal experience, well-researched data, and inspiration.  Justin Daniels is an articulate, compassionate, and knowledgeable interview.  Speaking with him, it’s clear why he’s been so successful in business… and why he’ll continue to be successful on his road to recovery.

” No More Vodka In My Orange Juice is more than just another drunkalogue autobiography.  It is an inspirational story about one man’s consequences, which ultimately led to a growing compassion, commitment, and ‘clarity’ of what addiction treatment can look like when you add purpose and passion to a program,”

Sherry Gaba, LCSW, author of The Law of Sobriety, CBS radio host, and celebrity rehab psychotherapist.

Sherry’s testimonial is an apt description of No More Vodka In My Orange Juice:  Finding My Path To Clarity by Justin Daniels, which hit number one in both hot new releases in Abuse Self-Help and Alcoholism Recovery on Amazon.

Written to provide inspiration for other addicts, Daniels understands how to motivate them to find their path to recovery.  Justin speaks from the heart and from personal experience.  He offers solutions, guidance and empowerment.  He is proof that anyone can achieve a fulfilling sober life.

Excerpt From Chapter 4:

“Justin’s first rehab attempt was less than successful, despite the resolve he brought to it.

” After they determined I wasn’t sneaking anything in, they checked my blood pressure and did a basic physical exam to determine whether or not I needed to stay in the detox unit.  Although I was still going through DTs, it had been more than 24 hours since my last drink.  They determined I wasn’t in bad enough shape to need medical detoxing, so they had a man lead me to the men’s wing of the facility.  I’m in a prison, I thought as I passed through the long halls and looked into the rooms with their stark institutional furniture.  Everything was made of wood and looked uncomfortable.  I arrived in the middle of what they called a process group where five or six men were sitting in a circle and talking about how they felt that day.    The staff member who accompanied me said, ‘This is Justin and he’s going to join this wing for rehab.’  Then he glanced at me and said, ‘Have a seat.’  I was just supposed to observe that day, which was just as well because I was in a deer-in-headlights mode.  Everything had happened so quickly – I’d gotten a DUI, been arrested and taken to a hospital, seen my parents, been body searched, and entered rehab in the course of less than 48 hours.  It sure wasn’t something I had mentally prepared for, and I was terrified about what to expect.  It felt like an out-of-body experience.  The men talked about their cravings for drugs and how they were mad or sad or whatever they felt about being in rehab that day, and I just sat in silence.  Then it was time for dinner, and I walked into the cafeteria by myself.  I looked around at the tables and felt so alone, so abandoned.  We had to take a tray and stand in line for our meal, and then I didn’t know where to sit – it was like being in middle school again, but with no idea of the rules and norms and no friends to sit with.

How the hell did I get here?

I found a spot at the table and asked, ‘Can I sit here?’  ‘Sure,’ someone said.  ‘What’s your name?’  ‘Justin,’ I said, and that’s about all I managed to say.  I sat down and quietly ate my food.  I wondered how the people would treat me and whether I’d have anyone to talk to.  At least I’m wearing jeans.  Good call.  After that came a meeting where everyone in the facility gathered to listen to a speaker.

I made a beeline for the back of the room when a man said to me, ‘Hey. How are you doing?’  ‘Fine,’ I said.  His face contorted in anger.  ‘What the fuck are you talking about, you’re doing fine?  You’re in fucking rehab!’  Oh, wow, I thought.  I guess I’ve met the resident crazy person.  ‘Okay, I guess you’re right,’  I said, just to be agreeable.  ‘I’m not really fine.’  He shook his head in disgust and walked away.  As it turned out, the man I had just met was the Director of the entire treatment program.  It was a wonderful welcome.

That pretty well set the tone for my stay at rehab.  Their philosophy was built on the principles of tearing a person down to build him back up again.  If you walked in the door because of an addiction issue, you were scum – total, useless, deplorable scum.  They wanted to make you hate yourself and feel worthless so you’d give up your control to them – kind of like an abusive relationship.

It bothered me deeply.  Just because we were addicts and alcoholics didn’t mean that we weren’t human beings.  We might have all done terrible things under the influence of our addictions, but we weren’t all bad people, and I didn’t feel good about anyone being treated the way the staff treated us.  It was a boot camp technique.”

His second (and last) rehab experience was much different… and put him on the road to recovery… helped him find his path to clarity.  In fact, it so inspired and motivated him that, despite having run several successful businesses during the years he struggled with addiction, he determined that his life’s calling is to help others find their path to recovery.  He’s so passionate about this mission and committed to it that he and his wife, Robin, have divested themselves of their other business interests to focus on Clarity Way, the first-class, medically-supervised, custom drug treatment and alcohol rehab facility that offers a fresh, compassionate perspective to addiction treatment which he opened in Hanover, PA late in 2007.

As Justin explained to a local newscaster the evening of Clarity Way’s grand opening, “I’ve been through rehab.  I’m personally in recovery, and I wanted to create the dream place I wish I could have come through.  I want to use my struggles to help others.”
