10 Rules To A Higher Life

I saw this posted on a chiropractors wall and really liked it.

Ten Rules to a Higher LifeI have made this graphic to share on Facebook and G+ etc.

I looked it up further and found this great post on the derivation and deeper meaning.

Let me know what you think or feel free to share it with others. – JW

Ten Rules to a Higher Life – Taken from Pavlina Post

These rules were created

, an incredible man and teacher who founded the Concept-Therapy course of instruction.

  1. Find No Fault
  2. Look for the good, and Go About Doing Good
  3. Never Criticize Nor Condemn
  4. Enslave No One
  5. Speak Not of Yourself
  6. Be Truthful
  7. Have Compassion
  8. Eliminate the Negative
  9. Meditate
  10. Work

Here is what Dr. Fleet had to say regarding his ten rules. “When shall now give you Ten Laws, Ten Rules, that you may try out in your own way. As you begin to bring your expression in harmony with these Rules, you will be inclined towards the Good of Life which, magnified to Infinity, is what we call the Being named God. In other words, you are striving to gain the God that is within you”.

1. Find No Fault

This is pretty straight-forward, “Find No Fault”. Are you finding fault with the way God is running the world? Are you finding fault with the people, places, and things in your life? If you said “yes” to either of those questions, then you are violating this rule.

Dr. Fleet would recommend an exercise in which a person would try to find no fault with anything for two weeks! Most people can’t even do it for a day! Try it for yourself. Here is the exercise taken from the book Cosmic Principles:

“Each morning when you arise, say to yourself: “Today I will find no fault with any person, place, or thing. If God has control of the whole universe, then I will adapt myself to His way of running it. No matter who comes around, or what happens, I will not find fault. I will try to obey this one law”.

As you find no fault, you will fault that peace will come unto you. You will be less enslaved and apt to react to the negative in life and will be more in tune to the good.

The abstraction of survival, cityscapes as seen from above. I like that it’s acrylic but has the feeling of the uncontrollable watercolor. The layers of paint, the application of the washed, translucency, and vividness reminds me of Mark Bradford multimedia works.

Halaburba’s work is both beautiful, abstract, political, and has both visual and intellectual depth.”

Through light we find our spirituality and it is key to a peaceful  journey. I chose to use a symbol of energy to represent the greatest form of light that exists.  Joy is within us all when we see deeper than the outer shell. And although we have imperfections, the spirit within us is what gives us our perfection. – Stacia Gates

Happy Thanksgiving From On Purpose Magazine

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

To speak gratitude is courteous and pleasant, to enact gratitude is generous and noble, but to live gratitude is to touch Heaven. ~ Johannes A. Gaertner

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we HAVE into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” – Melanie Beattie

Philippe Halaburda

Philippe Halaburda lives currently near Aix-en-provence in France. As an artist, Philippe paints on many different supports developing his personal style using acrylic paints, as well as textures and other mediums. His art can be found in collections, homes and offices throughout Europe, North America, Canada, and Australia.

“I am born in 1972 in Meaux in France. I studied Graphic Design in Paris and graduated in 1996 with an honors degree. I have developed my own style of painting since then. My paintings inhabit the border between figuration and abstraction. They are also in a constant state of flux and suggest different things to different people. I see them as a springboard for the imagination. Lines, shapes and paint stains can suggest me some things I would never consciously designed one.

I begin by making random marks on the canvas with a paper pencil or a brush, without any preconceived ideas at all of what the finished work is going to look like. The accidents and chance are used to provide the starting point for each artwork.

The subjects I choose to develop, the supports I paint on, the colours I use – all these things are inevitably a product of my own environment, experience and my memories. The painting is complete when there is no more need to change.

I wish that my paintings have a real presence, they magnify the space, own it.
When I begin a new painting, I never know what will be my creating composition. I discover along the way and try to be my own audience. I put myself in danger, out of balance, to keep my mind opened, in search of this thread suspended over the void. To further accentuate this state, I always start by painting several media simultaneously.

This is what I call «series». I have always worked like this. They define them by the dominant colors, more or less the distribution of space charge, the first brush stroke, sometimes the choice of words and especially the support chosen. This influenced my artistic approach. I see a critical access to other treatments of color and form, an opportunity for renewal while enhancing the contours of my artistic identity.

The brush stroke is unexpected, strong, ripped, working in different ways and with different materials. I use simple techniques often some improvisation and confusion for me but very logical. I sometimes overlapping, multiple layers of paint, volunteers to cross the lines, to boil the tracks, giving false directions, with the ultimate goal of allowing multiple approaches to the table.”

In Recognition of Our Beloved Veterans

On This Veterans Day November 11th, 2012 Let Us Remember:

It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,

And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Information – How to Help

How We Can Help Hurricane Sandy Victims

The needs are huge. Families are displaced and although government and private industry are working around the clock to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy, but many people need help right now and there are some great organizations that need our support to help the victims. Check them out and give what you can.

The American Red Cross The widespread damage by Hurricane Sandy just a few days ago left millions of families in the hard-hit regions without power, and thousands were forced to evacuate from their homes.

On the night Sandy made landfall, the American Red Cross responded immediately, with more than 250 shelters open across sixteen states that provided overnight stays to nearly 11,000 people. Sandy is a big and destructive storm, and the relief efforts for Sandy will be long and difficult. People will continue to need help for weeks, even months, to put their lives back together. Reports from ABC News say that many blood drives were cancelled due to the storm and now there is a need for donor blood in the NY NJ area.  The New York Blood Center is urging people to donate blood for those in the New York/New Jersey area. To donate, call 800-933-2566 or visit www.nybloodcenter.org.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is currently serving Hurricane Sandy survivors and first responders in seven states with food, water, cleanup kits, emotional and spiritual care, and more. If you would like to support those impacted by Hurricane Sandy, please visit www.SalvationArmyUSA.org.

The Salvation Army continues its feeding and sheltering activities in the most heavily impacted areas including New York and New Jersey where coastal devastation and flooding remain major issues.

West Virginia and Maryland are facing a different kind of disaster with record snowfalls leaving thousands without power.

Feeding America

As the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief organization, Feeding America is preparing to provide food, water and other supplies to those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Thousands of pounds of supplies are already stationed near the anticipated disaster zone to make sure that those affected by the storm have immediate access to food and water.

Through a network of more than 200 food banks and 61,000 food pantries, emergency shelters and soup kitchens,  Feeding America is able to reach into disaster affected communities with basic needs supplies including food, water and cleaning products. It is anticipated that the service areas of 25 to 35 Feeding America food banks could be adversely affected by the storm.

The organization has pre-staged emergency food supplies throughout the nation, including significant quantities of food and water at the Community Food Bank of New Jersey in Hillside.

These provisions can be to quickly transport to food banks throughout the region as they are needed.

Save the Children

Save the Children will deploy emergency response teams today to coastal and northern New Jersey to assess the needs of children in areas devastated by Hurricane Sandy. New Jersey bore the brunt of the storm, which caused widespread destruction along the East Coast, displacing thousands from their homes and leaving millions without power.

“We as a nation have a moral obligation to protect the most vulnerable during disasters, our children. We have to do everything we can to minimize the negative and long-lasting effect these events can have on children and provide the support they need,” said Mark Shriver, senior vice president of Save the Children’s U.S. Programs. “That’s why Save the Children is deploying our emergency response teams to the hardest-hit areas of New Jersey to assess the needs of children and their families and ensure a quick recovery of essential services, such as child care.”

As Sandy approached, the Save the Children distributed advice to families for keeping children safe during the hurricane.

“Hurricane Sandy impacted millions of lives, forcing many families in high-risk areas to flee from their homes and seek safety in shelters. Here at Save the Children, we know from experience that children are always the most vulnerable in any emergency situation,” said Carolyn Miles, Save the Children’s President and CEO. “Through our preparedness, response and recovery programs, we continue to put the unmet needs of children and their caregivers first.” DONATE to Save the Children

Hurricane Sandy has left a mess that will take some time to dig out of. So many heroic stories have been told and many more will come out of this tragedy.

jw najarian and larry jones of feed the childrenI had worked with two of these charities in the past with stellar results.

I was asked to help as the Los Angeles Coordinator for Feed333’s campaign to feed, give toys and other essentials to kids all around the nation for Christmas. Feed333 had previously been on record for feeding more people in one day then any other national program.

I worked with the awesome staff at the Salvation Army in South Central Los Angeles and Larry Jones of Feed the Children showed up with 18, 18 wheeler trucks full of food and water.

We did not make them one meal, but gave each family enough food and essentials to last a week.

I can’t recall what the numbers were. I believe we fed around 4500 families so at an average of 4 members per family that should be around 18,000 people for a week? Don’t quote me on those numbers, but we also served similar numbers in Phoenix and San Francisco that day.

I was so thankful for their help and commitment and I know that right now someone who has been devastated is feeling just a bit better for one of these organizations help.

I first reported on Feeding America when I interviewed Samantha Harris formerly of Dancing with the Stars and recently with Stars Earn Strips, about her support of making sure hungry American kids were taken care of in our story Samantha Harris on Feeding Americas Hungry Children. This is another great organization that helps so many.

The American Red Cross. Everyone knows that you can count of the Red Cross to make sure that in times of need, people have food and shelter along with emergency medical treatments and so much more.

Again we salute all the organizations and individuals that are helping and you too for doing your part. – JW
